Reverse Physician Pay Cuts in 2024: Write to Your Lawmakers
On January 1, 2024, a new round of cuts to Medicare
reimbursement payments took effect for interventional cardiologists – a 3.37
percent reduction to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor and
the continued implementation of changes to the clinical labor pricing formula implemented
by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Although these changes are in place now, Congress is currently
considering legislation to prevent or mitigate these cuts as part of ongoing
budget negotiations. These cuts harm our profession and our patients.
SCAI is calling on interventional cardiologists to contact
their lawmakers immediately to support legislation that will prevent or
mitigate the effects of these cuts. Thanks to your effort, we were able to
mitigate cuts in 2023, and we aim to do so again for 2024.
Congress must act now and pass H.R. 6683, the Preserving
Seniors’ Access to Care Act, and H.R. 3674, the Providing Relief and
Stability for Medicare Patients Act, to prevent Medicare
cuts in 2024. Add your name and tell your representatives in Congress to ensure
interventional cardiologists are compensated fairly by Medicare.
